The Name Behind the Brand

The Edwin name came from the word denim and the letter w being turned upside down; this gave the famous Edwin name known for its popular Edwin jeans all over the world.

Edwin was established in 1947 by a man named Mr Tsunemi who began importing jeans from the united sates as denim was not available in Japan, however in 1951 denim became available in Japan and in 1961 the first ever pair of Edwin Jeans were created by Mr Tsunemi. From creating their first pair of Edwin jeans they went on to produce fantastic ranges of clothing and in 1963 Edwin created the worlds heaviest rings pun denim jean and later went on to create the world famous old wash jean look.

In 1980 Edwin created a revolutionary concept of stone washing which later went on to be used by jean companies all over the world. By now Edwin jeans were huge and Edwin kept on developing fantastic concepts including the new vintage style which was developed in the 1990’s.

The Edwin brand

Edwin jeans are still branded with the famous three colour selvedge which was used on the first pair of Edwin jeans developed in 1961. The Edwin brand has became well known for its remarkable jeans and continues to craft fantastic clothing ranges including Edwin T-shirts and shirts.
