As much as it is us the retailers who bring trends and the latest looks to you the consumer, we have to give credit to all of the reps we deal with in order to achieve this. Over the coming months we hope to bring you a little insight into the life of a high fashion brand representative; their opinions on current and forthcoming trends, favourite parts of their jobs and must have wardrobe staples!
This week, we have David Tierney; brand rep for ‘The Cuckoos Nest’ amongst others giving us the low down…
Hi David! Hope you’re well…
Q: What do you feel will be the key trends should we be looking at for from your brand over the coming season?
A: Definitely graphic tees paired with chinos and canvas. For nights, a hint of smarter look.
Q: Where do you think this trend/look been inspired from?
A: Europe; it’s a very preppy look which they’ve always loved, but it has now moved across and is something which is being embraced by the UK market.
Q: What do you feel is the most enjoyable or challenging part of your job?
A: Getting out on the road and seeing what is going on, speaking to retailers and hearing it 1st hand.
Q: What is your wardrobe staple or favourite garment you own and for what reason?
A: A Moncler gilet; Picked it up in New York with the idea of no one else having it,which is why I ain’t telling you what colour, in case you copy it!
Q: Where do you see trends heading over the next 6-12 months?
A: Summer as I said previously, turned up chinos and jeans with nice striped and graphic tees, night time; smarter blazers and shirting.
Q: What is your ultimate fashion faux pas? What can you not stand to see people wear?
A: FAT GUYS IN SKINNY JEANS ITS WRONG!
Q: What is one item of men’s clothing which you feel is worth heavily investing in?
A: A good jacket or pair of brogues.
Q: What is your opinion on accessories? How do you wear them personally?
A: They finish off an outfit, whether it be a classy watch, scarf etc. you have to put in the effort.
