FILM | Quentin Tarantino’s Top 10 of 2013
Quentin Tarantino, a name that needs no introduction in the film industry has released his top 10 films of the year so far (as shown below). Like his films, even the list provides us with a few surprises. The list begins with dramatic comedy Afternoon Delight, which received mixed reviews but was awarded at Sundance for the work of director Jill Holloway. The list also included new Woody Allen creation, Blue Jasmine alongside popular horror film of the year The Conjuring. There were a few comedies featured on the list including Kick Ass 2 and This is the End which all received pretty good reviews from other sources as light hearted comedy films.
Gravity, the new film set for release featuring Sandra Bullock and George Clooney was rated highly by Tarantino, the Sci-Fi drama features a thrilling story in which Bullock and Clooney are suspended alone in space due to space shuttle disaster. This film promises thrilling turns, along with exciting graphics and is highly anticipated in the UK. It seems then apart from the Lone Ranger that all films in the list received reasonable reviews, with the Disney film being the exception.
Alongside the list was an uninterested dismissal of the always popular Batman. In a recent interview surrounding his top 10 when asked to comment about the change in star of the upcoming Batman films, he wished luck to the new star Ben Affleck but explained that he found the character of Batman uninteresting, and that he didn’t really have an opinion on the films which may come as a shock to some fans.
Tarantino has created some of the most iconic and recognisable films of our era, known for his genius in the industry alongside some of his interesting and quirky decisions perhaps Tarantino sees some things we don’t in some of these films. Either way we’d say they are definitely worth a watch, with Tarantino’s seal of approval.
