Barbour is a brand from our hometown who we have been stocking for a good stretch of time now, however this is the first time we're able to welcome the Steve McQueen collection into our doors. That's because this capsule collection has only just been launched to mark the 75th anniversary of the “International” motorcycle clothing range. "I'm not sure whether I'm an actor who races or a racer who acts" those words demonstrate just how into motorbike racing Steve McQueen was and why Barbour (who supplied him with the now iconic Barbour International wax jacket way back in the Sixties) have created their very on collection, all about him.
Don't think this a clothing line simply for petrol heads (although it does cater to that market too) you can find the usual t-shirts, jeans and shirts you'd expect, except with that signature dash of McQueen cool. The reason for this is that the focus is also on his downtime, off-camera when he was kicking back with his buddies and what he'd be wearing while doing this.
Steve McQueen lived and raced in his Barbour, most notably when he represented the United States team in the 1964 International Six Day Trials (ISDT) in East Germany (one of the world's toughest courses). The US team recognised during their stopover in London that Barbour's jacket as the best for job - what with the changable European weather and the ideal storage the cargo pockets provided.
